Wise Connections for Camp

Created for day camps, overnight camps, outdoor education programs, extended wilderness programs, and other programs
where children spend extended time away from their home environment.

No matter what your role is at a camp or extended stay program, when you have direct interactions with children you hold the power to help shape lives. When children come to camp they are in a vulnerable position - learning who to trust that can take care of them, meeting new peers, trying novel experiences, and being very physically active. The combination of these events frequently pushes children to their limits of comfort and they need support in regulating their emotions.

Wise Connections for Camp is fun and interactive! It is designed to educate camp staff using combined knowledge from neuroscience, attachment theory, mindfulness, and social-emotional development of how to best meet the needs for individual campers and groups of campers. This experiential training provides an opportunity for camp staff to learn about how the brain works and effective techniques of how to help a camper feel safe, heard, and valued.

Did you know that the ability to have cause and effect thinking does not fully get on board until the age of 25? Wise Connections for Camp also educates camp counselors about their brain too, and how this affects their role at camp, learning about themselves, and increasing their ability to meet the emotional needs of campers.
