As a therapist, I have and show respect for your child. I honor that your child does not know me and work to create a sense of safety and trust. I work with both you and your child in understanding your child’s needs to help repair and heal the cause for seeking therapy. I see my role as opening the door for change, and supporting parents and caregivers in helping your child continue practicing skills learned in therapy at home and in the community.
Therapy can provide you with the tools needed to support your child’s emotional growth throughout childhood and into adulthood, through healthy relationships built on trust and respect. Some of the tools I can provide are having a greater understanding behind your child's behaviors, what message your child is sending through her/his behaviors, and ways to meet these needs. When your child feels understood, it opens the door for greater communication, collaboration, feelings of confidence, and healing.
Increased understanding and supportive relationships lend to a secure and confident child who is able to cultivate positive images of him or herself; such attributes can benefit your child in social, interpersonal and academic environments.
